This illustration shows an example of use of visual and implied lines. You can see that the paint streaks create a visual line that leads your eyes to focus downward. The paint drops at the end of the streaks create an implied line seeing how each drop is vertically in place with one another implying that it creates a line.
These curvilinear shapes form an abstract piece of work. This is an example of shape and design as you can also see that the shapes are formed into different directions that show a small example of distortion.
This design is an example of use of positive and negative space. Positive and negative spacing typically uses a combination of black and white to illustrate the relationship between the foreground and the background. In this image, since the black background encompasses the entire canvas, the color white which is shaped into an image of the moon is more prominent. When you focus on the black as the foreground, you can see a side-view image of a man crying out.
Value is more than just different amount of colors. Value is specifically how light and dark, or how soft and intense a color is. In this image, the color purple acts as the skin tone of the girl. This implies that there is a sense of volume and density of the figure, whereas the girl's hair is colored blue in a lighter tone which signifies that it is free-flowing and very light.
Texture is an element that adds to the depth of the design. In this image, the use of gloss adds texture to the object giving it volume and making it more profound.
